Creative Arts Open Division Contests

You are invited to enter the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo Creative Arts Open Division competitions. Do you make quilts, take great photos, paint, make jewelry, work on crafts, crochet, knit, and bake or make goods? If yes, enter the 2025 Open Class Competition. 

Who Can Enter?

These contests are open to exhibitors of all ages, living in any area. Classes are open to both amateurs and professionals.

Age categories: 

  • Youth: Grades K-12 and up to 18 years old 
  • Adults: 19 years of age and older 
  • Seniors: 55 years and older 

Categories include:

  • Fine Arts
  • Crafts
  • Photography
  • Ceramics
  • Canning
  • Baking
  • Home Arts (needlework, sewing and embroidery)
  • Quilts
  • Senior Citizen 

HOW DO I ENTER?

EXHIBIT ENTRY DATE AND TIME

  • Sunday, July 27, 2025, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Douglas County James R. Sullivan Events Center.
  • Prior to Entry Day, Entry Forms are available below or you may pick one up in person at the Fairgrounds Administrative Office.
  • Entry Tags can also be picked up ahead of time at either office or on Entry Day.

CHECK-IN PROCEDURE:

  • Each person entering exhibit(s) in Creative Arts must use one entry form for all exhibits in any of the Departments.
  • Give each item with its entry tag and the entry form to the Superintendent at each department for check-in. The Superintendent will return the claim ticket of each exhibitor tag and your entry form. When you have entered all exhibits, hand your entry form to the Team Member at the exit door of the lobby.
  • Hold onto the claim ticket and bring it with you when you pick up your exhibit(s) on Project Release Day – Sunday, August 3, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • You may have someone else bring in your entries.

ENTRY JUDGING:

  • Creative Arts entries will be judged on Monday, July 28, 2025 in the James R. Sullivan Events Center.
  • Quilt judging is open to the public starting at 9:00 a.m. & will conclude when all quilts have been judged.
  • All other Creative Arts Departments are closed to the public during judging.

EXHIBIT DISPLAYS:

  • All of the Open Division Creative Arts Department exhibits will be displayed in the Marketplace during Fair.
  • Creative Arts entrants will receive one wristband for free Fair entry to view the Creative Arts exhibits during open hours. Any others who would like to view the exhibits must purchase a general admission ticket for all days of the Fair.

ENTRY PICK-UP:

  • All entries will be released and ready for pick up available on Sunday, August 3 between 5:00 & 6:00 p.m. in the James R. Sullivan Events Center.
  • No early pick ups will be be allowed.
  • If you are not able to attend entry pick up day, you may have another person bring the claim ticket to pick up your entries.
  • Go to each department to pick up your items and ribbons. Remember to bring the claim ticket from your exhibit tag(s) or have your ID available.
  • If you won 1st, 2nd, 3rd place or Best of Show or Best of Category follow the signs to the Payout Table to pick up your winnings!
  • Any unclaimed items will be held at the Fairgrounds Administrative Office for two weeks after the Fair has ended. After the two weeks, any unclaimed exhibits will be disposed of and any unclaimed premium money will be forfeited and returned to the General Fund of the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo.
