The Stick Horse Rodeo is a miniaturized rodeo for young kids, instead of riding horses they ride stick horses. The Stick Horse Rodeo consists of 6 events:

All ages are welcome to participation and the only limitation is that kids must be 30 lbs or less to ride the bull bag. Each participant will receive a bandana, contestant number and a ribbon. Jessica Loobey was born and raised on a cattle ranch in Western South Dakota, just outside of Sturgis. Aside from her love of country living and animals, Jessica’s admiration of music was influenced by her parents at a young age. She has loved to sing country music ever since she was about 5 years old.
Her dreams started to come true a few years ago when she joined a local duo, and eventually built her own band. Meanwhile, Jessica also released her first Nashville record in April of 2022. Both of her released albums: Three Chords and the Truth, and latest release, Double or Nothin’ are available on all digital platforms, feature multiple self-written songs, and have over 185,000 streams on Spotify alone.
Jessica’s most recent accomplishments include earning two 2024 nominations with the Midwest Country Music Organization – Album of the Year for her latest release, “Double or Nothin’ ” and Entertainer of the Year. She was nominated for the Collaboration of the year for “4 Letter Word” during the 2025 awards. She is also signed with SSM Records of Nashville as a developing artist.

Unbridled Rodeo Experience
The Douglas County Fair & Rodeo, in partnership with Developmental Pathways, is proud to host a special accessible rodeo and fair experience designed for individuals with disabilities, lower mobility and/or sensory sensitivity. This event offers a fun and welcoming environment filled with interactive activities like roping, barrel racing, and even riding a real mechanical bull—just like a traditional rodeo, but tailored for all abilities.
More than just fun, the day is about building confidence and creating unforgettable moments. Participants will not only get to try their hand at classic rodeo events, but also connect one-on-one with real cowboys, cowgirls, and rodeo queens who generously volunteer their time to make this day truly special.
NEW! This year the event will take place in a climate-controlled Indoor Arena

My name is Jeff, and I’m a Colorado-based singer and performer. I was born in Houston, Texas, and moved to Golden when I was seven years old. I perform with my country band, The Front Range Cowboys, and stay active in the local music scene. In my spare time, I enjoy attending bluegrass pick sessions to continue developing my singing and guitar playing. I’ve had the opportunity to open for many national acts and occasionally perform at the Grizzly Rose here in Denver. In 2025, I was honored to be named Male Vocalist of the Year, an award presented by the Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame. I’m grateful to share my music and be part of such a vibrant community.

Mutton Bustin’ is an exciting activity that gives children a taste of rodeo excitement. Children cling to the backs of woolly sheep, aiming to stay on for as long as possible.
Payment is due at the time of registration – no refunds or transfers.
What You Need to Know:
• Registration will only be offered online
• Mutton Bustin’ is open to kids aged 5-7
• Rider must be under 50 lbs. wearing the clothes and footwear they will ride in. Weigh-ins take place at check-in. (For the safety of the animals, no exceptions will be made for a child weighing over 50.00 lbs.)
• Each session is limited to 40 kids
• Entry fee is $25. Entry fee is due to registration and is non-refundable and non-transferable.
• Participation waiver must be signed before the ride, during online pre-registration
• Like professional rodeo events, time and score count, but all these aspiring cowboys and cowgirls receive a participation ribbon
• Sorry, pardner, no re-rides, and the judge’s decision is final
What to Wear
Long-sleeved shirts and pants are required. Boots or tennis shoes, NO SANDALS or open-toed shoes allowed. Riders will be weighed in what they wear to ride. A safety vest & helmet are provided and must be worn by the rider. No spurs and riders must ride forward.

The top 8 scores of each Mutton Bustin’ session will be able to ride at the ticketed rodeo performance later that day.

My name is Jeff, and I’m a Colorado-based singer and performer. I was born in Houston, Texas, and moved to Golden when I was seven years old. I perform with my country band, The Front Range Cowboys, and stay active in the local music scene. In my spare time, I enjoy attending bluegrass pick sessions to continue developing my singing and guitar playing. I’ve had the opportunity to open for many national acts and occasionally perform at the Grizzly Rose here in Denver. In 2025, I was honored to be named Male Vocalist of the Year, an award presented by the Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame. I’m grateful to share my music and be part of such a vibrant community.

Professional rodeo action consists of two types of competitions – roughstock events and timed events. Once again, the roughstock events of bareback riding, saddle bronc riding and bull riding will have their own fully sanctioned night in the Outdoor Arena on Thursday, August 1 at Bares, Broncs & Bulls – Roughstock at The Rock. In these events, the contestant is scored on both the animal’s performance and their own. To score, the cowboy must stay on the animal while using just one hand to hold on for eight seconds. Combining the thrill of Bareback Riding with nothing more to hang on to than a riggin; rodeo’s classic event, Saddle Bronc Riding, and the most dangerous sport on dirt, Bull Riding, this night will be sure to get your adrenaline running. Watch top ProRodeo athletes “make an ugly face and nod” as they compete for their share of the prize purse for an eight-second ride.

Mutton Bustin’ is an exciting activity that gives children a taste of rodeo excitement. Children cling to the backs of woolly sheep, aiming to stay on for as long as possible.
Payment is due at the time of registration – no refunds or transfers.
What You Need to Know:
• Registration will only be offered online
• Mutton Bustin’ is open to kids aged 5-7
• Rider must be under 50 lbs. wearing the clothes and footwear they will ride in. Weigh-ins take place at check-in. (For the safety of the animals, no exceptions will be made for a child weighing over 50.00 lbs.)
• Each session is limited to 40 kids
• Entry fee is $25. Entry fee is due to registration and is non-refundable and non-transferable.
• Participation waiver must be signed before the ride, during online pre-registration
• Like professional rodeo events, time and score count, but all these aspiring cowboys and cowgirls receive a participation ribbon
• Sorry, pardner, no re-rides, and the judge’s decision is final
What to Wear
Long-sleeved shirts and pants are required. Boots or tennis shoes, NO SANDALS or open-toed shoes allowed. Riders will be weighed in what they wear to ride. A safety vest & helmet are provided and must be worn by the rider. No spurs and riders must ride forward.

The Junior Livestock Sale at the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo is a culmination of the hard work and dedication of young participants in livestock projects. During this event, animals raised by youth, such as cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs, are auctioned off to buyers from the community. The sale not only provides an opportunity for participants to recoup some of their project expenses but also can help fund their future education.

The Stick Horse Rodeo is a miniaturized rodeo for young kids, instead of riding horses they ride stick horses. The Stick Horse Rodeo consists of 6 events:

All ages are welcome to participation and the only limitation is that kids must be 30 lbs or less to ride the bull bag. Each participant will receive a bandana, contestant number and a ribbon.
